The metal parts are heavy-duty zinc die cast material and are powder coated for a pleasing finish. The wide rim on the top helps keep the seed dry. Squirrels will find the weighted top difficult to open to reach the seed supply. The feeder base is easily disassembled with a TORX Screwdriver (available at most hardware stores or by calling customer service), and the perch rods can be pushed out and removed for cleaning. As a reminder, please take care of your bird guests by cleaning your feeder regularly with a mild disinfectant solution (10% household bleach) to reduce the incidence of disease spread by dirty feeders.
